Hemp is a very versatile plant and can produce different types of crop. If your focus is to produce as much resin as possible for the purpose of processing CBD or CBG then choosing the right genetics are a fundamental key to your farming success. In addition to the right genetics, it is important to select feminized seeds, which are selectively bred to grow into female plants exclusively. While Ag Extracts cannot guarantee 100% feminization of their seeds, we come very close, at least 99% as independent 3rd party testing to verify feminization rates.  

Hemp plants that are grown exclusively for CBD and CBG oil typically require 108-120 days of growth after germination until they can be harvested. It is important to know that the planting of all the seeds must be done within a specific timeframe. This also applies to when it comes time to harvest the crop. Furthermore, if your goal is to yield premium smokable flower, you will need to harvest by hand. This way you can make sure the flower remains clean and retains the resin trichomes in the actual flower.

Another considering factor when choosing the right seeds is paying attention to legal compliance.  Many experienced farmers have heard of the term “hot plant.” This refers to a hemp plant that possess more than 0.3% THC. A unique challenge of industrial hemp farming is that farmers must ensure that their hemp crop remains less than this allotted amount as outlined by FDA regulations. Plants that exceed this limit cannot be legally harvested and sold as industrial hemp. Thus, keeping plants below this threshold starts with choosing the right seeds and the proper farming techniques. Ag.
